What is solar energy and how does it contribute to global energy sector?

Solar energy is the hottest energy sector right now and scientists all over the world are working on its applications. It’s important to understand the concept of solar power and its relation to ecology. Solar energy is the radiance in the form of heat and light which is derived from the sun. His energy is further utilized in the form of solar heating, photovoltaic system, electricity generated by thermal energy and inorganically induced photosynthesis. Broadly speaking, solar energy courses can be categorized into active and passive solar energy. The differentiation is based on capturing and distribution of solar energy in terms of conversion and distribution from the source.

What is the difference between active and passive energy transformation?

Active solar energy is a dynamically harnessed energy source which is captured and used in thermal collectors and panels which operate on photovoltaic sources. Whereas, in case of passive solar energy the harnessing mechanism is relatively inert like building a high rise or a building which is oriented in a certain degree to the position of the sun.  Another example is choosing a material which has a certain thermal mass. In passive solar energy training there is little or no use of artificial technology and he focus is on organically using the radiance transmitted by the sun.

Active type power is more concerned with increasing total supply of insulation which is why scientists name it as supply type energy. On the other hand passive solar power is used to diminish need for alternative sources of energy and is called demand side energy.

How much energy does the sun generate?

Scientists say that solar energy is the most powerful source of energy and in terms of volume to surpass all combined non renewable energy sources like coal, oil, petroleum and natural gas. Sadly, this form of solar energy courses is also vastly underutilized and it’s only in the last 2 decades that sufficient efforts have been put in to use solar power well.

The amount of solar energy received by a particular region will obviously depend upon its distance from the equator. Asian and African nations have the widest influx of solar insulation.
